Backyard Wins (back in September) 12/8/10
Backyard won the Drama Short Gold award at the Jamfest Indie FIlm Festival after screening back in September. I had forgotten about this until the award arrived at my doorstep. So, yeah.
Backyard Screens in Brooklyn 10/3/10
Come on out Oct. 14 at 6:30pm to Brooklyn's Tiki Bar, located at 885-b 4th ave, for a screening of Backard in the lounge. This is part of Frank Lozada's bi-monthly Cinema Night series. If you do not attend, I will haunt your dreams after I die. So expect to see me there in the next few years.
Backyard wins big at Columbia Gorge Festival + Press and New Fests 8/26/10
Wow, what a week. Out of 300 films screened, Backyard took a Best Overall award at the Columbia Gorge film festival. I met some wonderful filmmakers and the festival itself was entirely free to the public, something for which massive credit must be given to festival coordinator Breven Angaelica Warren for pulling it off so successfully. Backyard and In Memoriam screen THIS SATURDAY in Sacramento 7/27/10
Paul and myself will be flying out to the Sacramento Film and Music Festival to attend the simul-screening of Backyard and In Memoriam on Saturday at 1pm, part of the "Student Days" block at the historic Crest Theatre. We plan to make our screening an event large enough to rival the 2005 WNBA championship win of The Monarchs (if such a thing is possible.)
Blissfest 2010 7/19/10
Backyard has been accepted into Blissfest 2010, a festival with themes of Peace and Charity.
It should be noted that we here at Kariout Films endorse neither concept. We prefer anarchy and suffering, because misery is cool, amaright?

2010 Jersey Shore Film Festival 7/12/10
In Memoriam garnered its second award for Best Silent Short Film and Alex Megar's Backard took home second place for Best Short Film at the Jersey Shore Film Festival! Sacramento, The Indie Gathering Awards! 6/29/10
Backyard and In Memoriam have both been selected to screen at the 2010 Sacramento Film and Music Festival. they'll both screen at 1pm on Saturday, July 31st in the absurdly gorgeous Crest Theatre.
Backyard has also been selected to screen at The Indie Gathering in Cleveland, Ohio on Sunday, August 8th at 1:35pm. The festival has given Backyard an award as well for placing in the top 10 for the dramatic film competition. Skol!
Burbank and San Antonio: Together At Last Sort Of 6/10/10
Backyard as been accepted into both the Burbank International Film Festival and the 16th annual San Antonio Film Festival. In San Antonio it screens on June 25th in the 2pm black. Burbank screening info is forthcoming. In the meantime I'll be hanging out in the basement of the Alamo.

Washougal/Columbia Gorge Film Festival: There Will Be Screenings 5/5/10
Backyard has just been accepted into the 2010 Washougal International Film Festival! The name may be changed to the Columbia Gorge Film Festival. Hopefully a decision can be made soon, otherwise what will I tell my friends!? Ah, that's ok, I don't have any. The festival takes place in August and a schedule is forthcoming.
Hoboken International Film Festival/Staten Island FIlm Festival 5/3/10
In Memoriam will be playing June 7th at 2 P.M. at the 2010 Hoboken Internation Film Festival.
It is also playing June 5th during the 3 P.M. block at the 2010 Staten Island FIlm Festival.

Jersey Shore Film Festival 5/3/10
Backyard and In Memoriam have been selected to screen at the 2010 Jersey Shore Film Festival in July. Detailed screening dates/times will be posted once available. In the mean time, Alex and Paul will be strengthening their tans in preparation.
